SATAO ROCK CAMP - The Safari experience

Only one and a half hours from Mombasa
Satao Rock Camp – Taita Ranch – is located on the 98’000 acre Taita ranch on the border of Tsavo East National Park. Accommodation – Eight comfortable en-suite twin tents are perched some 80 feet up on a huge rock kopje overlooking a small waterhole where Elephant, Cheetah, Impala, Warthog, Buffalo, Lesser Kudu, Baboons and Vervet Monkeys come to drink and occasionally Lion and Leopard.

Most days and nights small silent herds of Elephant come to the waterhole and by digging small wells in the soft sand they gain access to the water below. Their actions open up this scarce water source to other smaller weaker animals.

Satao Rock camp is the sister camp to Satao Camp in Tsavo East, a very popular camp with tourists and repeat “locals”.

The tents in Satao Rock have been constructed in true “Satao Safari Style”, all have en-suite facilities and flushing toilet.

The tents at Satao Rock are perched high 80 feet above ground level and due to safety policies of the camp only children over the age of 12 are allowed.
