MWALUGANJE ELEPHANT SANCTUARY
Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary is a conservation area for
elephants, the great African pachyderm whose numbers were threatened
until recently by the world demand for its precious ivory tusks. Today,
thanks to committed conservationists and action by the Kenya government,
the elephant is on the road to recovery. Mwaluganje is a shining
example of private efforts to ensure a safe future for this magnificent
beast. Set in the heart of this 6000 acre sanctuary is the Camp,
overlooking traditional elephant trails, offering guests unique
opportunities for elephant spotting and bird watching from the comfort
of the well-appointed luxury tents.
The camp, with all the comforts one would expect from a four-star hotel,
consists of 20 tastefully furnished twin bedded ensuite tents (with
provision for extra bed), and private verandah.
The traditional African evening campfire is the highlight of the day
after an enthralling game drive through the forest and bush. Time for a
sundowner and to recall the marvels of nature, to wonder at the majesty
and dignity of the stars of the show, the elephant.
To end the day, dinner under the African sky to the
symphony of the bush, the hoot of an owl, yelp of a jackal, trumpeting
of an elephant and the occasional cough of a distant leopard.
For a very different experience, Mwaluganje Elephant Camp offers the
highest standards of comfort, service and good food
